Everything we’ve covered for Thanksgiving up to this point has avoided getting too heavy.  This is by design, as most people are going to move toward the middle of the spectrum.  If, like my family, you have some wine lovers that enjoy their wine a bit more full bodied, than this one is for you.  The Côtes Du Rhône region produces many great value wines, with big bodies, big fruit, spice, and some herbal notes.  In otherwords, a great match up for the spicy, savory Thanksgiving meal.  How does Gabriel Meffre Côtes Du Rhône Saint Vincent perform in this capacity?

Sight:  A opaque purple core, rimmed in amethyst edges.

Smell:  Black cherries and syrupy balsamic float out with touches of spice to start things off. Spice and hints of jammy raspberries come in with a little undertone of green herbs and smokey espresso

Sip:  The body is remarkably bright and hangs out toward the medium-full side of the spectrum.  Black cherries mixed with sage and black pepper pick up notes of cigar and blackberry.   A touch of black olives rounds things out.

Savor:  The tannins on the finish are relatively smooth, but peaked enough to be noted.  Elements of dried herbs, black olives, and spiced black cherries work together to build a long finish.

Gabriel Meffree Côtes Du Rhône Saint Vincent is deep, dark, and brooding, with plenty of red and black fruit.  The notes of balsamic and black pepper mixed with jammy black cherries create an interesting mix of flavors that work well layering and harmonizing.  The overall mix is set up well for roasted meats and earthy sides, making this a fun choice for most meals, including Thanksgiving.  If you have a big red lover joining you, Gabriel Meffre Côtes Du Rhône Saint Vincent is well crafted choice.
