If you’ll pardon the expression, we have time for just one more dark horse entry for our best wines of halloween 2016.  While the list is fairly red dominate, perhaps your guests would prefer white.  For those ghosts and ghouls at your part who like a little zip in their drink, perhaps Dark Horse Sauvignon Blanc could provide them a shocking experience.

Sight:  A middling gold-straw, with a tinge of green.

Smell:  Gooseberry and grapefruit both make their presence known somewhat resoundingly.  Touches of bay leaf, lime, and starfruit make themselves known.

Sip:  The body is light and bright with plenty of zip to power it.  Gooseberry dominates the flavor profile here, being laced with fresh herbs like basil and thyme.   The profile is definitely on the grassier end of Sauvignon Blanc.  Lime pith drives them together, with a hint of passionfruit toward one end.

Savor:  It ends on a lime – passionfruit note, with a lot of brightness still lingering.

If you want fresh, bright, and full of lime and green grass, then Dark Horse Sauvignon Blanc has it in spades.  The cooler notes of herbs are a contrast to the hints of tropical fruit.  Thanks to high acidity, the lime helps tie these tow ends together.  Pairing wise, this is a great choice for an apple and walnut salad.  Dark Horse Sauvignon Blanc is punchy, and will easily add some zip to your evening.
