The Wolftrap Rosé 2013

What is the perfect wine to drink if you’re a Frey?  One might argue that Wolftrap would be a perfect choice, especially in the hue of red or rosé.  Given the propensity of wolves to extend beyond Direwolves to regular wolves and werewolves, there’s clearly a healthy fear of these beasts bred deeply into us as people.  With that in mind, can The Wolftrap Rosé do anything to assuage our fears of these wild animals?

Sight:  The center is the color of pink roses with a slight copper toward the edges.

Smell:  The nose is rather faint, but perfume like, with elements of flowers, ripe strawberries, and watermelon. Hints of orange zest linger at the edges.

Sip: The body is light and lively, with a heavy dose of orange zest and watermelon flavors.  Notes of roses and strawberries come in, and are complimented by a touch of currant.   The floral elements impart a slight bitterness through the background.

Savor:  The ending has a smack of sour cherry and fresh strawberries, with a touch of orange.  A hint of tannin reminds you was red at one point in it’s life.

The Wolftrap Rosé is bright, lively, and simple.  The fruit flavors here are robust, and the acidity firm enough that it conveys the fruit well.  The mid palate is a little overly perfumed, but not intrusive.  The Wolftrap Rosé is a cleverly labeled rosé that does rosé well enough to be invited to the halloween get together.
