Vinara Foil Remover

Vinara Foil Remover

Unless the bottle of wine you’re using is a screw top, you probably are going to need to remove foil from the neck of a bottle.  Sure, you can use just about anything to get the foil off,  like knives, scissors, or the corkscrew itself, some of the pointy implements are somewhat dangerous to the user.   That said, even though wine key’s (or waiter’s friends) are easy enough to use, there is a certain increase in speed and safety that a foil remover can add.  So how does Vinara Foil Remover do compared to a wine key?

Vinara Foil Remover Packaging

While the packaging for Vinara’s Four Wheel Foil Remover leaves a bit to be desired, the design is smooth, simple, and the font is nice.   It also comes with magnets in the middle of the cutters, so it’ll stick to your fridge if you’re short on space. Unlike my wine key, the plastic clearly guards the cutters, and my fingers.  Thumbs up for safety and utility.

Vinara Foil Remover vs Wine Key

My first attempt to remove foil didn’t go so well.  As it turns out, you need to make sure the foil on the neck of the bottle isn’t spinning.  Once I held it down though, Vinara Foil Remover worked like a charm.  Simply place on the top of the bottle, and rotate around with a little pressure, and the foil pops right off, leaving an exposed cork.  There was an added bonus that the foil stayed in the remover.

Vinara Foil Remover Before

In general, for $6 it’s a great little opener.  My only complaint might be the cutters seem to dent relatively easily.  After a month, there are a bunch of little dings.  Despite, this cosmetic issue, it still works great!

Vinara Foil Remover Dents

Pros:

  • Cuts foil off the top of bottles with ease
  • Incredibly easy to use; even for beginners
  • Great utility in it’s magnets; in case you’re prone to losing things in drawers

Cons:

  • The cutter wheels seem a little prone to dents.
