Segura Viudas Brut Cava Pour

Sight:  Pale straw and with plentiful small bubbles.

Smell:  Fresh green apples, lemons, and a yeasty sort of bread notes.  Subtle amount of minerality are present paired with very light whiffs of white grape and stone fruit.

Sip:  A bright start, with a medium body and plenty of fizzy bubbles dancing around on the tongue.  The bubbles are slightly pointed at times, but the overall feeling is smooth thanks to there small size.  Lemon, unripe apricot, green apple, and hints of minerals all come into play.  There’s a mild hint of bitter notes like lemon pith, but also touches of other citrus, wet stone, and roasted nuts.

Savor:  A wonderful amount of lemon shows up in the ending keeping it very fresh, and hints of bread and nuts hide along side.  The finish is long, and quite complex.

Segura Viudas Brut Cava is wonderfully straightforward in it’s fruit flavors and toasty nature.  The refreshing nature of the small bubbles works a fantastic palate cleanser, and the bright citrus flavors will also compliment the bird and sides in a thanksgiving meal.  In general, Segura Viudas Brut Cava is a very balanced and refined option under $10 that would be wonderfully at home for sushi, brunch, or any number of meals.  Definitely worth a try if you’re a fan of sparkling, or want something celebratory for your meal.
