Kirkland Signature Asolo Prosecco

Kirkland Signature Asolo Prosecco Bottle

Kirkland Signature series has been killing it.  The products offer tremendous value for the money, delivering fantastic wines for affordable prices.  So does Kirkland Signature Asolo Prosecco kick off the weekend with a bang, or a whimper?

Kirkland Signature Asolo Prosecco

Sight:  Moderate gold with plenty of tiny bubbles

Smell:  Apple and lemon mingle against a more subtle backdrop of peaches, cantaloupe, and other ripe fruits.  The nose is ripe with stone fruits and a slight hint of honey and minerals.

Sip:  The body is not as sweet as the nose implies, but has plenty of brightness.  The acidity isn’t overpowering but balances itself well.  Notes of lemon pith, unripe apricot, and green apple all come forward with a touch of bitterness.  Hints of the stone fruit appear in the forefront, before winking out.

Savor:  The finish is a little on the pithy side, leaving a bitter nuttiness and fruit skin element.

Kirkland Signature Asolo Prosecco is a rare miss for me from an otherwise stellar Costco line up.   There’s a lot of good flavors in here, and the nose is killer, but the bitterness loses me.   It’s almost like walking up to a beautiful person in a bar who proceeds to tell you’re your ugly.  Confusing, and leaving a bad taste in your mouth, Kirkland Signature Asolo Prosecco might be better replaced with many of the other Proseccos on the market.

Verdict:  Bitter, Lemon Pith, Green Apple Skin, Ripe Stone Fruit
