Segura Viudas Brut Rosé

Segura Viudas was a standout for last year’s New Years Eve selections.  The quality of their Brut Cava is killer, with delightful elements of lemon, nuts, and apples.  If you’re not ready to recommit to an excellent Cava and want something to escape the winds of winter, why not consider rosé.  After all, Segura Viudas Brut Rosé is almost the same price.

Sight: A pretty rose-red color, leaning toward cranberry juice with lots of bubbles.

Smell:  Fresh strawberries and currants mix with fresh baked pastry.  Touches of yeast get a syrup like note of concentrated fruit in them.

Sip:  Bright and vibrant on the palate, with very little sweetness.  It pulls in strawberry, cranberry, and a hint of red plum.  A touch of yeast gets into the mix, along with a bit of raspberry.  The bubbles are small and elegant.

Savor:  The finish is dry, and a bit of earth comes into it.  There’s a great mix of underripe raspberries and fresh currants.

Segura Viudas Brut Rosé is subtle and gentle in its presentation of bright red fruit flavors.  The flavors are simple, clean, and straightforward.  The easy going strawberries and other fresh red fruit mixed are a nice pop of spring in the depths of winter.  I might even say that Segura Viudas Brut Rosé could help you have a dream of spring (get going George it’s nearly 2017!).

Verdict: Strawberry, Currant, Raspberry, Subtle
